I've created a new discussion group at groups.yahoo.com.
It's a bit more flexible than the bravenet forum so if it works out, all
discussion will move there.
As you may have heard, there is now a commercial version of RedSquirrel called VirtualAcorn. Currently it supports A5000 emulation and is much faster than RedSquirrel. It comes with everything you need to get started plus some extra freeware and shareware to give you a taster of RISC OS software. |
| 16/11/2001 | Please be patient, RedSquirrel 0.5 is progressing well. The JIT versions of the ARM 3 and ARM 7 processors both appear quite stable now. I'm in the process of tidying up the rest of the application (i.e. fixing things that I broke) ready for release and the new version should be out before xmas. |

My, doesn't time fly!
Sorry, no new releases but a quick message to say that RedSquirrel is still under development. I've been working on 'dynamic recompilation' or 'jit' which is coming along quite nicely but still some way from a release. For those that don't know, the 'dynarec' compiles ARM instructions into native (intel) instructions before executing them. This takes a bit longer the first time around but for code that executes many times it is much, much faster. |

Nothing really new but just to say that RedSquirrel is still being developed,
mainly on the train to and from London!
I've been making some major alterations to allow the next round of features to be added without turning the code into spaghetti. This is nearly done (ie RS almost works again ;-) so I can hopefully start on some new features this month. Don't expect another release until at least September... |
| 13/7/2001 | New Frequently Asked Questions page has been added. It's under the calculator icon, because like a calculator you ask it a question and it comes back with an answer. |
| 19/6/2001 | A Red Squirrel called Nutkin has been born in Thetford Forest, Norfolk. This is the first success of their captive breeding programme, which hopefully will eventually lead to the reintroduction of the Red Squirrel in East Anglia. |

New snapshot 0.4.4 on the downloads
page
I'd like to get a list together of which applications/games run OK on RedSquirrel. An indication of how well they appears to work, under which Model and how much you've used/tested them would be really useful. |
| 9/5/2001 | We are excited to announce that this site is now a member of The Acorn Ring webring. We look forward to a long and fruitful association with this brave new enterprise. |

The RedSquirrel Team was honoured to learn that Woolworths has
commissioned this delightful figurine to celebrate the
millionth RedSquirrel user.
It costs 99p, but Suzi has negotiated a 50% discount for certified RedSquirrel users.
To be certified you just need to do your impersonation of a squirrel at the checkout and
say the secret code "Would you like to see my nuts".
Note: not all members of Woolworths staff may be aware of this offer. |
| 15/4/2001 | Suzi got the website to work with the Opera browser. |
| 1/4/2001 | This site can now be reached via the new address www.red-squirrel.org. Please start using this as we'll be switching to it exclusively soon. |
